Wooden Church at Sighetu Silvaniei, Romania

Constructed around 1632, the Church of Archangels Michael and Gabriel in Sighetu Silvaniei is one of the oldest wooden churches in Salaj County. This church has a typical plan consisting of a large rectangular chamber with the pronaos and naos and a smaller rectangular chamber to house the altar. The chambers have separate roofs. The structure is set upon a foundation of sandstone blocks. A porch surrounds the walls of the church with molded 'T' shaped posts. Traces of white background paint are visible on the exterior. The door is not original.
