The
Reformist Church in Huedin was first constructed in the 13th century; however,
it was not until the mid-15th century when the church took its current form,
thanks to the patronage of the Banffy Family. The building was badly damaged
and renovated on two occasions - late 17th and late 18th centuries. The Gothic-style
church consists of three architectural components: the clocktower, the pronaos
and nave, and the apse. A painted wooden ceiling masks the vaulting ribs;
however, the nature of the windows and the buttresses are of clearly Gothic
style. The ceiling is painted with geometric and allegorical motifs - the
painted elements of the panels alternate between square and circular. Behind
the altar is a beautiful organ, installed by István Kolonics of Târgul
Secuiesc.
